“ Topaint the Forth bridge ” is a mod - day phrasal idiom equivalent to a “ Sisyphean task ” : an endless job that can never truly be complete . * The gigantic battle of maintaining — cleanup , painting , and repair — the turgid structures on ground is an awful one , and it deserve recognition . - Despite the popular urban caption , however , the huge Forth Bridge in Scotland is not under permanent repainting , and , because of a novel blusher organization , the actual paintjob will last for a full stop of 15 year .
