Apple is under flak after it allegedly block Spotify ’s new iPhone app from being released in the App Store . According to aRecode report , Spotify ’s cosmopolitan counsel sent a varsity letter to Apple ’s legal team claiming that Apple is “ causing grave harm to Spotify and its customers ” by not allow the late version of the app to reach iPhone users .
A voice from Spotify confirmed that the Recode story is accurate . From the letter sent by Spotify , it appears the company is n’t taking the issue lightly .
“ This late episode raise serious worry under both U.S. and EU rivalry law of nature … It continues a worrying rule of behavior by Apple to exclude and decrease the competitiveness of Spotify on iOS and as a rival to Apple Music , especially when seen against the background of Apple ’s previous anticompetitive conduct aimed at Spotify … we can not abide by as Apple uses the App Store commendation process as a weapon to harm competitors . ”

The implications of the effectual fuss could be huge . The alphabetic character directly challenges Apple ’s billing process , which requires Spotify ( and all other app makers ) to expend Apple ’s billing arrangement and give a 30 percent commission on all fee collected . This has get Spotify to raise subscription Price in the Apple App Store to $ 13 per month rather than the $ 10 it usually costs .
It remains to be seen exactly how this effectual puncher - up ends , but what ’s unclouded is that Spotify think of business organisation . We ’d be surprised if this is the last we hear about the ill will between the two companies .
