Bryce Dallas Howardhas an impressive roster of people in her corner.

Bryce, 42, and Schiffer, 53, worked together on the action thrillerArgylle(out now), with Bryce starring as a shy spy novelist and Schiffer executive producing. Bryce tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue that the model was “so, so, so involved in the costumes and hair and makeup,” which made the actress feel more comfortable turning to her when it came to her off-camera fashion questions.

“I have learned so much from her, to the extent that I kind of won’t wear something without sending her a picture,” she tells PEOPLE exclusively. “I’m like, ‘I can’t believe that I’m taking advantage of having Claudia Schiffer on speed dial and sending her pictures of everything that I’m trying on for the [press] tour.’”

Bryce calls Schiffer’s taste in fashion “impeccable” and says that having her on set helped her strike the right tone for her character when it came to her costumes. With a character prone to more comfortable apparel - Elly is “introverted and loved staying at home," says Bryce - Schiffer still wanted her to feel stylish.

“Everything was chic, and I learned so much,” Bryce says of working with Schiffer. “I learned so much just picking her brain constantly about fashion.”

Claudia Schiffer attends the World Premiere of “Argylle” at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square on January 24, 2024 in London, England.

Schiffer certainly knows a thing or two (or a million) about fashion. The supermodel’s résumé is as long as she is tall and she proved her sartorial prowess yet again at the recent world premiere ofArgylle.

Not only did she show up with her cat, Chip, in a cute little bubble backpack (in a nod to Bryce’sArgyllecharacter) on the red carpet, but she wore astriking metallic Versace dressthat was nearly identical to the one shewore down the runway at the house’s show last September(both in an argyle pattern, of course).

“This dress is an alternate version of the design Claudia wore at my Spring/Summer ‘24 show and is crafted from checkerboard metal mesh with crystals, beads, and Barocco-threaded lace embroidery,” Donatella Versace, the designer behind the gown, shared on Instagram.

InArgylle,Bryce plays a reclusive spy novelistsuddenly thrust into the kind of underground crime syndicate she had imagined in her noveles. “It’s a new kind of character” for the actress, she tells PEOPLE, “and probably the closest to me as a person that I’ve played before.”

The role fit like a glove, she says. “This movie is so much about her connecting to her power and her connecting to feeling empowered and feeling courageous and overcoming her anxiety and getting out there. For me, doing this movie felt very empowering.”

And Bryce’s mother, Cheryl, she adds, partially inspired her daughter’s turn inArgylle. “My mom is a novelist and her imagination is epic - and wants nothing to do with anything social,” she says.
