Emily Blunt has no deficit of gigs — the star ofJungle Cruise , Mary Poppins Returns , and the first two Quiet Place film , to name just a few , is currently doing the pre - Emmy nomination round off for her BBC - Prime Video series The English . But there ’s one undertaking many sci - fi fan have been hop to see : that much - teasedEdge of Tomorrowsequel .
In a Deadline interviewthat ’s mostly about The English ( deserving reading just for her give-and-take of the scene in which her character , a woman navigating the 1890s American frontier , eat calfskin orchis ) , Blunt was inquire about the theory of moreEdge of Tomorrow , something that conductor Doug Liman has mentioned in the pastandBlunt herself has also addressed . In short , she ’s more than willing , though she does have some sensible conditions . “ I would do it to do another one . I do n’t know when and I do n’t lie with how , but I would love it , ” she said , before adding “ I do n’t know if my back could take it . ”
To try her tell it , her costume in the sci - fi saga — which sees Tom Cruise ’s character living the same twenty-four hour period over and over while fighting an foreign war , a task that requires the help of Blunt ’s superintendent - soldier — was more cumbersome than audience might have realized , though Cruise , who she calls “ fishy , ” “ charming , ” and “ a muffin ” was apparently well - aware .

“ I call back we just knew I just had to toughen up and get through it . Because otherwise , you would spend the entire film fighting against the fact that you wish your suit was abstemious , but it was n’t , ” Blunt remembered . “ But I get laid the experience so much , and I would love to solve with Doug [ Liman ] again . It ’s like we have to create something as ambitious as the first one . How much more mileage can we get out of a repeating day ? What ’s the new construct ? ”
While Edge of Tomorrow — which is nearly a decade quondam at this point , but is somehow just as fresh and entertaining as it was in 2014 — manages to bestow its twisting narrative to a satisfying conclusion , it sure would n’t be the uncollectible idea to continue or spread out its always looping report . Back in 2017 , Liman hinted at a title of respect ( Live break down Repeat and Repeat ) and say that the story , at least in whatever form it was in six geezerhood ago , would in reality be more of a prequel ; there wasa lilliputian update in 2019 , but treasured little momentum since . Would you be concerned in the continuation if it ever gets made , or do you think Edge of Tomorrow is better as a standalone ?
