It ’s not just sure-enough rock albums that get remastered when technology move on : this image of Jupiter ’s ice - covered moonlight , Europa , has just been given a revamp by scientists from NASA .
The mosaic look-alike of the moon was first enamour in the former 1990s , but now it ’s been remastered using more forward-looking mental image processing techniques . The original version ( below ) , first published in 2001 , have colour profile that had been amped right up , making contrast across the surface more obvious . The new double ( above ) is more subtle but apparently more kin to what the human middle would see if it were somehow in the neighbourhood .
amateur had antecedently tried their hands at the task , but this is the first clip NASA has released their own efforts . The long , curving lines are fractures in the lunar month ’s bright methamphetamine shell . We still do n’t know exactly what they can tell us about the moon — but these remastered simulacrum could help us translate more than before . [ NASA / JPL - Caltech / SETI Institute viaRed Orbit ]
