Set in the near future after a monolithic state of war has leveled most of our satellite ( you may see the folks of sure-enough Saint Louis invest up a new version of the archway ) Defiance follows a law officer in a brand name young world .
seek to keep the peace treaty in an alien refugee filled townsfolk , with quite a little of bumpy - head creatures to pal around with , Jeb Nolan ( Grant Bowler ) is ready to kick a little foreign ass so as to keep the peace . Even though we ’re only getting a glimpse of Defiance for now , it sure enough looks like a lot of fun . More importantly , this could be the serious scifi drama Syfy has been lack since BSG ended . Here ’s hoping , at least .
The show is going to air in April of 2013 , along with a massive MMO plot that will affect the literal television serial as players bring forward in the game . Here ’s the ( very complicated ) abstract :
The series is set in the near future , where aliens known together with as Votans have come to Earth seeking a novel abode after their solar system was destroyed . However , when they reached Earth they discovered that despite a prolonged negotiation with the political science on Earth they were not welcome . Rather than bend forth , they began a state of war with the world as they are determined to make Earth their new family . During the war , the Votans drop terraformers on the satellite and transform the surface of the major planet ; scorching the land , opening chasms in the earth and covering the surface of the major planet in rubble and rubble . After tenner of warfare , a ceasefire is declared when both side realise that they must focus on survival on this unexampled almost alien major planet . The series for the most part revolve around the type of Jeb Nolan . Jeb was only ten years old when the Votans make it and he served in the military during the war . With the state of war now over , he returns to his hometown of St Louis to get that its is no longer the metropolis he left ; it is little more than refugee camp . Deciding that his service are needed , Jeb strike up a placement as the Chief Lawkeeper in Defiance , so he can protect the town from dangerous clashes between humans and aliens , military scavengers and others unsafe visitors who occasionally enter the town .
