The “Clout” artist, who is married toCardi B, also opened up about how he and Quavotook the stageat theBET Awardsin June for the first time since Takeoff died.
Although Offset was hesitant to do the tribute because it felt like “running away from reality,” he explained thatPharrell Williamsconvinced him that he and Quavo needed to. “I had talked to Pharrell, we were sitting at a [Paris Fashion Week] show, and I was telling him like, ‘Man, I don’t know if we should do it because this just ain’t gonna be right, and I feel like I’m scared it’s gonna put me back in that moment.’”
“[Pharrell] was like, ‘No, you gotta do that for the world and him,’” Offset continued. “‘Y’all the biggest group ever in hip-hop. And also, he would want that, bro.’ He was like, ‘You need that energy of you and your brother rocking that stage again, even if it’s for the last time or whatever.”
Williams, 50, apparently told him that it was “going to be a cleanser” for both Migos members, and Offset admitted on the radio show that it was.
